An accomplished recording professional, Mike Butler has worked with some of the biggest recording artists, producers, and engineers in the world. A skillful guitarist with a major label deal under his belt by the age of 24, he began developing a passion for the production side of music making in the mid 90s after recording an album at legendary Memphis studio, Ardent. That passion led him to an assistant engineer position at another great Memphis studio, Kiva, where he learned the building blocks of professional recording from producers like David Z and Greg Archilla. After two years in Memphis, Mike headed west to Los Angeles where he began assisting at the world famous Record Plant. It was there he honed his skills under the watchful eye of recording giants like Ed Cherney, Don Was, Humberto Gatica, Toby Wright and Greg Ladanyi. Great work led to great opportunity and it wasnt long before he was making his own name as a freelance engineer. Over the last decade, Mike has worked around the globe, engineering and/or mixing records for such legendary artists such as The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Norah Jones, and The Pretenders. Recently, Mike has added the title of "Producer" to his growing list of credits with albums by new artists Lynda Kay, Freddy & Francine, Low Volts, Silver Strands, Nena Anderson, The Blackout Party and Stephen Rey & The Slicks.
